An introductory talk on IEM and IEM-USM Student Section to new students was conducted during the orientation week of new intakes for Academic Session 2020/2021 on Octorber 8. The talk was delivered by invited speaker from IEM Penang Branch, Ir. Catherine Sim Siew Ping the advisor of IEM-USM Student Section, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lau Tze Liang. The main purpose of this talk is to introduce IEM to new students and to recruit new IEM student member. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the talk was carried out virtually through online platform for the first time.

Engineering Innovative Design Competition 2020 (ENGINNOVATE 2020) was successfully organized on 1 April 2020. ENGINNOVATE is an engineering design competition with an innovation and original ideas basis to tackle real-life problems with engineering knowledge. This year is the third times for IEM-USM Student Section to organize this wonderful event. This event is jointly organized by USM Career Fair and IEM-USM Student Section. The purpose of this competition is to promote innovative culture in engineering design work and to produce the brightest talents for product development, further research, and commercialization. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the finale of ENGINNOVATE 2020 was conducted online.

IEM-USM Student Section was established in 2010 and turns 10 in this year. We are pleased to announce a special icon created to commemorate its 10th anniversary. The logo is designed by Lee Jian Yee, the former Honorary Secretary who is also the head of Senior Member for the current Executive Council.
