A technical talk by NS Bluescope Lasaght Malaysia Sdn Bhd was successfully organized by IEM-USM Student Section on 24 April 2014. The talk was delivered by Ms Suraya Johari, a Technical and Design Manager from Bluescope Lysaght Malaysia. There are approximately 30 students have participated this event.
Petaling Jaya, 20 April 2019 – A Universiti Sains Malaysia alumnus, Cheah Yi Ben has made the university proud when he received The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Gold Medal Award at IEM 60th Annual Dinner & Award Night 2019, held at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa on 20 April 2019.
The award is given to every top engineering student in the engineering course for each local university. The recipient must be a student member of IEM and has performed excellently in academic, active in engineering-related activities and engineering societies, and has obtained excellent achievement in engineering competition and innovation / research project.
IEM-USM Student Section has helped IEM Women Section to organize activities during Women in Zcience 2019 held in Tech Dome Penang on 9 & 10 April 2019. The theme for this year is "Balance for Better". This event has attracted more than 700 students to participate in various workshops and STEM booths. The event is organized by Tech Dome with Penang Women's Development Corporation (PWDC) and Intel Technology to encourage women to take up STEM-related careers.
"Route to Progessional Engineer" was successfully organized by IEM-USM Student Section on 3 April 2014. Approximately 40 students have participated this event. Sincere appreciation goes to three distinguised speakers. They are Ir. Paul Phor Chi Wei, Ir. Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Choong Kok Keong and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Leo Choe Peng.
