The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) was established in 1959 and its primary function is to promote and advance the science and profession of engineering in any or all of its disciplines and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas related to engineering.

IEM-USM Student Section acts as a platform to connect USM engineering students with Professional Engineers from The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). Established in 2010, IEM-USM Student Section is the only cross-disciplinary professional organization in USM Engineering Campus. Supported by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) with more than 40,000 members throughout Malaysia, IEM-USM Student Section aims to create values among future engineers and assist in producing competent and proficient engineers.
