IEM Engineer's Run Penang 2018 (E-Finity), organised by The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Young Engineers Section (YES) was conducted on 18th November 2018 at Universiti Teknologi MARA Penang Branch, Permatang Pauh. The main aims of this event are to raise awareness of self-development and embrace the opportunities ahead while promoting a healthy lifestyle. This year is the third year of this event and it is also part of IEM's continuous effort to enhance the image of engineering profession among the community. IEM-USM Student Section has gathered about 30 USM engineering students to participate this 10 km fun run. This activity was supported by Kamen Steel Industries Sdn Bhd.

IEM-USM Student Section and ASCE USM Student Chapter have co-organized guest lectures to civil engineering undergraduate students. The lectures were held on 2 Novemver 2018. Three important topics were delivered by three experienced engineers from M.E.I. Project Engineers Sdn Bhd. They are Ir. Dr. Goh Teik Cheong, Ir. Khor Wei Huat and Tan Kang Chin. The topics covered in these lectures are Consultancy Services in Construction, Route to MIEM/Professional Engineer and Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Revit for Civil Engineering.

In conjuction with the 12th Asian Pacific Conference on Shell and Spatial Structures, IEM-USM Student Section has sent seven members to participate its technical visit to The Habitat Penang Hill. Participants visited two interesting and unique structures constructed at The Habitat Penang Hill. They are Curtis Crest (Tree Top Walk) and Langur Way (Canopy Walk).
